Sometimes getting to a site late does work! Good time was had by most. Some learned how to get their gliders out of trees and bushes. Lift started about 3pm and was pretty good with some thermals to get up in. Wer a lurvely Spring day!

Milk Hill White Horse - 13/04/09

Arrived about 11.30 to a great looking sky at Milk Hill White Horse. Set up in what was breezy conditions and as soon as ready to go the wind switched off (typical). Now waiting for cycles which came fairly frequently. After half an hour on the ridge connected with a feisty little number that took me over the back over Milk and up to base. I noticed that Chris Jones had climbed up too but had lost sight of him for a while. We eventually joined up, squeezing past Lyneham and drifted NE. We kept pushing eastwards to get round Brize but I couldn’t manage it. Climbs were plentiful but not always smooth. Nice flight around 45km and for once an easy retrieve straight back to my van in under 2 hrs!

Bracklesham Bay SW

Mike Hibbit,

After spending the day with my parents in Selsey near Chichester I headed for Bracklesham Bay and arrived about 6.45 just as the wind was easing. Flew till 8pm soaring the raised pebble beach, garden walls and high bushes along the top of the beach.

Interesting take-off at the top of the beach in front of six foot high, forty five degree, concrete wall!

Wind 18-23 when I got there increasing to 30+ by the time I decided to give up and go home...

I went for a mega parawalk today with all my kit and completely around the whole site. I got there a bit too late really. Should remember to get to big hills early, not at 3 in the afternoon! Anyway, some peeps were there on takeoff as I walked around the bowl. They took off but it appeared a bit light. They flew, three went up and away and Ken got sunk out. I got to takeoff had a chat with Ken, he took off in a lull and off he went. I waited and it got blown out. That's Talybont for you!

There were some very spirited takeoffs from lower down the hill by Cookie and Co.

Another whizzo afternoon of thermals and fun. Morning murk cleared (I'm told. I turned up about 3pm) for loads of people to have fun. Worth the trek. Some people came up from Devon it's that good!

Lots of cloud cover kept a lid on things but was bouyant as a bouyant thing later in the afternoon. Just what I needed to test out my new glider.
